Refiner

The Refiner by Terri Shamar

Awhile back, there was an article that was submitted on a respected friend’s website called “The Silversmith”. I was truly amazed at this article which spoke the very words of a song called, “Refiner” (Malachi 3:3) which I wrote and recorded. I was going through a heavy trial at the time. I have gone through many seasons of trials through my walk with the Lord. I have seen much, done much, experienced much heartache and pain, sorrow, grief, persecution, and even physical pain, and yes, dying. But if it weren’t for the “fire” in my life, I wouldn’t be the woman of God that I am now. God is continually shaping me, molding me, grooming me, and equipping me for the ministry that now lies ahead of me. My trials have not been in vain. Christ is the Author and Finisher of our faith, and He will see us to the very end. Christ is building His character in us, His image. It makes sense knowing that all you’ve been through will somehow be used for the sake of His ministry one day, because God causes all things to work together for the good to those who are called according to His purpose. This has taken 25 years of truly walking with the Lord to “groom” me for what He’s called me to do, and to accept the spiritual giftings placed upon me and my life, and not run from them. You can’t get very far, because God will always find you and bring you back.

There are many of you who are being “groomed” for the ministry as I speak. And many of you may have ignored His voice. But let me encourage you. Know that your “grooming” is not in vain. God is using it to mold you, shape you to what He’s calling you to be so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Allow the Refiner to burn away all the dross in your life. Submit to His calling. God is not finished with you yet. He will bring you to the other side.

Just remember that the Lord is the Refiner sitting by the fire, closely watching every detail of your life. Nothing goes unnoticed. He sees all. Remember that He is in control of the flame. And He will see you to the end.

Yours in Christ,

Terri Shamar
